‘Everything is coming for me’, ‘It’s loud in here, crowded' and ‘There is a balm, you will find it’ from the series ‘When the Sky is Dark’, 2023.

This new series of work focuses on mental health, exploring anxiety with a primary focus on panic attacks. The fear of not sleeping is my biggest trigger, denying my body the rest it needs and deserves to heal. Most of my panic attacks happen in the middle of the night, the insomnia caused by a mix of hormones, peri-menopause and the general stresses that life brings. The creation of this work instigates a healing process that explores an acceptance and deeper understanding of these triggers. Using a self portrait draws up on these intense emotions of pain, sadness and hope. The process - self-portrait image, fire. collage, re-photographing and my grandmothers’ embroidery.

Lavendula Series, 2020

This new series of work, ‘Lavendula’, explores my experience of fragility, pain and inflammation when suffering from ME. I was shattered, felt damaged and my body was extremely fragile. It felt as if I was covered in awful bruises, head to toe, but in fact my skin was unblemished, disguising how frail I was on the inside. I thought I was going to break at any moment.
